IN MY FIRST OFFICIAL MEETINGS IN THE ASSEMBLY, I MET WITH THE WELSH GOVERNMENT'S ECONOMY SECRETARY, KEN SKATES. IT WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS A LOT OF THE ECONOMIC ISSUES FACING THE CONSTITUENCY, AS WELL AS MANY OF THE OPPORTUNITIES.

In the meeting I had with Ken Skates, we had a very good discussion about Enterprise Zones, the AMRI, Aribus and the wider advance materials and manufacturing sector.

Needless to say, manufacturing is key to the economy in Alyn and Deeside and across North Wales. The Economy Secretary and I also had the opportunity to discuss important issues relating to transport. We need to improve transport links across North Wales, as well as our links with the North West of England. This will of course be a key priority for me as the Assembly Member for Alyn and Deeside.
